Morgan Junction Park:

Construction bids are opened Oct. 29 - construction will begin in December. Construction schedule will be completed in late March of early April.

MoCA has applied to SDOT for sidewalk improvements to supplement CRF funds – may be funded next year. We submitted the CRF application for 98 ft. of sidewalk along California between North corner and driveway – it is among the top priorities of the SW Council. Sidewalk construction will follow the Park construction, then the construction of a kiosk and public art.

Public art proposal includes landscaping and a series of random-spaced frames stamped and stained in salon-style assemblage, imbedded in sidewalk at least four feet from the curb. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and the Department of Transportation (Liz Ellis) will collaborate on the compatibility of sidewalk and art projects.

Unfinished conversations will deal with placement of crosswalks, wayfinding details, kiosk design and placement.

Moved, passed to accept the gift of proposed public art at the Morgan Jct. Park. The City Council has also proposed to repave Fauntleroy between Alaska and California next year.

Murray Pump Project:

Phase 2 will deal with odor control and generator. Prior plans to place the generator under the sidewalk have

been discarded. Design process for this project call for a group of local residents to review and consult on plans – volunteers are needed – contact Martha. This generator and odor control unit will be redesigned and sited in 2009, with construction in 2010. Estimates call for 18 to 20 months of construction. Watch for continuing information on MoCA and W. Seattle web-sites.

Development at 35^th and Graham:

Up to 14,000 square feet of retail space and 220 residential units will be constructed South of current branch library and clinic. The facility will be designed with a step-configuration, 3 to 4 stories above parking garages. Plans are still concerned with pedestrian access between clinic/library and retail spaces, as well as impacted traffic flow along 35^th. For further information, contact Chip Marshall.

West Seattle Trails:

Kick-off event Saturday, Oct. 18 (10:00 am to noon) at Camp Long. Planning under way to situate 60 signs and 10 kiosks along trail routes in West Seattle.

Announcements:

Re. CRF projects: applications have been made for the Morgan Park sidewalk, and pedestrian safety access walkway into Orchard Street Ravine Park. The proposed Solstice Park Upgrades were not accepted for 2009 – application will be reviewed and reissued for 2010.

Re. Neighborhood Planning: Watch for announcement of public discussions of Incentive Zoning Oct. 21.

Re. Kenney Redevelopment: Design review now scheduled for Oct. 23

Re. MoCA Neighborhood entry signage: Plans are still under way to locate 5 signs at arterial entry points of Morgan Junction, at approximate cost of $300 each. Donors/sponsors are being sought for this project.
